Benthic Macroinvertebrate Monitoring Plan for Large Transboundary Rivers in the Alberta-Northwest Territories Region: Assessment of Results from the Fourth Year of Sampling (2020)

In 2017, Alberta and NWT initiated a benthic macroinvertebrate monitoring program on the Slave and Hay rivers. Benthic macroinvertebrates are known to be a good indicator of aquatic ecosystem health because they can indicate change or stress in the environment. Up to 35 samples are collected yearly on both rivers. The following resources are available to learn more about the Alberta-NWT benthic macroinvertebrate monitoring program.
